Retrofit underfloor heating installed directly into existing concrete or screed floors using channel milling technology.
Our specialist machinery routes precise channels directly into your existing concrete or screed. Pipes sit flush with your subfloor – no excavation, no thick overlays, no weeks of dust sheets.
We assess your floor make-up, heat loss and the layout you want to heat.
Low-dust diamond cutters mill narrow channels into your existing slab – typically in a single day.
16mm PE-RT pipework is laid into the channels, sealed flush and connected to your manifold.
We pressure-test, commission the system and you can lay your new floor straight on top.
Traditional retrofit UFH adds 20–65 mm of overlay boards. With channel milling, the pipework sits inside your existing slab meaning doors, skirting, thresholds and staircases all stay put.
Same floor height
Retrofit underfloor heating is designed to work with both heat pumps and modern gas boilers. By operating at lower flow temperatures than traditional radiator systems, it provides comfortable, even heat throughout the home while supporting the transition to low-temperature heating. Whether you're renovating an existing property or planning for future heating upgrades, underfloor heating offers a practical solution for modern living.
Installation is carried out by cutting channels into the existing floor and installing pipework within them.
The system is left ready for floor finishing following installation.

If you're renovating your home, there's never been a better time to ditch the radiators for good. Here's why so many homeowners are choosing underfloor heating instead.
It's a smarter, cleaner way to heat your home – and it fits around your renovation, not the other way around.
Typical ground floor installations complete within 1-2 days. You stay in your home throughout, using other rooms normally whilst we work in the installation area.
No. This is one of the most common misconceptions about retrofit underfloor heating. Every heating system experiences heat loss, whether through windows, walls or roofs. Underfloor heating simply distributes heat more evenly across the room, creating comfortable warmth from the floor up. In our experience, homeowners are often surprised by how effective retrofit underfloor heating is, even in older UK homes and extensions.
In many cases, yes. Underfloor heating operates at lower flow temperatures than traditional radiators while providing a more even, radiant heat throughout the room. This can improve efficiency and comfort, particularly in open-plan spaces, extensions and homes with heat pumps. Many homeowners tell us the biggest difference isn't just energy usage – it's the reduction in cold spots and the more consistent warmth throughout the space.
A range of floor finishes can be applied following installation, including tiles, LVT (with a suitable self-levelling compound) and engineered wood, subject to manufacturer guidance. The final floor build-up should always be considered as part of the overall system design to ensure optimal heat transfer.
The cost of retrofit underfloor heating depends primarily on the area being heated and the floor type. As a general guide, a typical 22m² room may start from around £2,000 including VAT, while a larger 55m² ground floor area may start from approximately £3,600 including VAT. These example prices usually include channel milling, installation of 16mm pipework, manifold supply, circulation pump and system commissioning. Final costs will vary depending on factors such as floor construction, layout complexity, access and any preparation required. For an accurate quotation, a project-specific assessment based on floor area or drawings is recommended.
"Great job done by Channel Heat Systems in my existing concrete floors. Very pleased at how clean it was and great guys doing the work. Very polite and hard working."
"The whole process with Channel Heat Systems was fantastic from start to finish. The team were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful throughout. We couldn’t thank them enough for their support and hard work in getting our system installed!"
"Absolutely amazing service from Channel Heat Systems. We had water underfloor heating installed in our bungalow in Iver and the whole process was professional from start to finish. The team used a dust-controlled floor cutting system to cut channels directly into the concrete floor, which meant no need for a thick screed or raising floor levels. Everything was explained clearly and completed to a very high standard."
